JAMBALĂ“ – Farmer’s Reserve

Jambaló is a municipality and Indigenous reservation in the central Andes of Colombia, located in the northeastern region of the Cauca department, about eighty kilometres north of Popayán. Its people, primarily of the Nasa and Misak communities, have cultivated a deep connection to the land for generations.

This region used to be a stronghold of violence in Colombia but it’s been slowly changing to become a peaceful territory with coffee replacing previous illicit crops. The change, with extensive help from government and support agencies has brought peace and stability to the area.

The area is rich in natural springs that feed the JambalĂł River and its tributaries, creating fertile valleys ideal for coffee cultivation. Once a region marked by conflict, JambalĂł has transformed into a peaceful and thriving coffee-growing community. Coffee has replaced illicit crops, bringing new opportunities, stability and pride to local families with the help of ongoing community and government initiatives.

Today, the high-altitude farms of Jambaló produce coffees that capture the spirit of this renewal, bright, sweet and balanced, often showing citrus notes, red fruit and a clean finish. It’s a coffee that tells a story of resilience, progress and the quiet strength of its people.
