Finca Buenavista has been owned by Mr. José Ordóñez for more than 20 years. This farm sits at 1,650 meters above sea level, has 12,000 mature coffee trees and is located in Vereda Primavera, near Pitalito in the department of Huila, on the southwestern end of Colombia amongst the Andean region mountain range. It is a beautiful tourist attraction that has astounding landscapes, hot springs and magnificent coffee mountains.
Huila coffee is characterised by sweet notes, refined acidity and intense fragrance, its cup profiles are a result of the environmental and geographical factors of the region. Huila coffee is one of the most recognised regional coffees in Colombia for its consistency in the cup throughout the year, it is harvested always by hand every three weeks, and only the cherries with the appropriate degree of ripeness are deposited in a floating tank where the ripe grains remain at the bottom and the lighter grains float, being then separated to be pulped and fermented for up to 22 hours, then sun-dried naturally without the use of ovens. After the cherries are milled, they are exported to Australia where we roast them locally to match our local customers preferences.
